Inspired by the rich cultural heritage of Armenia and by the feeling of togetherness that is shared by its people the Play2 festival was born.

Play2 or Play2gether is a classical guitar festival featuring a series of workshops, ensemble sessions, and professional concerts in Yerevan and other towns and cities of Armenia for young musicians to experience and take part in. The festival happens every year early July for a week.

The festival is a rare opportunity for young guitarists of all abilities to meet, share ideas and experience music making in a relaxed but professional setting, all comlpetely funded by Play2 and free to all those who take part.

Meghedy who shares a profound bond with her Armenian roots, and her husband, Chris Stell, a classical guitarist from the UK with a deep affection for Armenia have built strong relationships within the classical guitar community creating  an educational program for young players allowing them to share their music and Play2gether.

Chris along with his musical partner Mark Eden, (The Eden Stell Guitar Duo) have performed in Armenia on several occasions since 2013  and as the artistic directors of the festival work along side the young players coaching them in all aspects of their musicianship.

Following the success of the initial festival, Meghedy and Chris have been working diligently to set up a charitable organization. Their goal, to broaden the scope of the festival by adding new elements such as competitions and composition opportunities, and ultimately, to elevate it to an international stature, all made possible by dedicated fundraising efforts.

Realising the need to start making a difference, Meghedy and Chris launched the inaugural festival last year, made possible by kind contributions from D’Addario Strings as well as relatives and friends.

What is happening in 2024?

2024 welcomes the Vida Guitar Quartet (UK) who will play at the Babajanyan chamber hall and who will be with the festival all week working with over 65 young guitarists and helping them Play2gether.
